Our Definition Of a Sports Car

Screen Shot 2022-04-12 at 9_26_02 AM.webp

Sports Cars, with trucks and utility vehicles being excluded, are designed for high-performance handling, rapid acceleration, and agile driving. Sports cars are typically two-door vehicles, with or without a rear seat; however, modern engineering allows some four-door cars to provide equal or greater driving excitement. A car may qualify as a sports car if the manufacturer identifies it as a performance version of a particular model, such as one with a high-performance engine, sport-tuned handling, sport wheels, or distinctive trim. Examples of four-door sports cars would include, but are not limited to, Mercedes-AMG variants, BMW M models, Audi RS models, and Cadillac V-Series models. To qualify, these vehicles must be genuine performance variants, not merely appearance or trim packages. The vehicle may be domestic, foreign, or custom-built and may be powered by gasoline, battery, or alternative fuel.
