October 13 Meeting Minutes

Meeting Attendees: Ken and Kathy Maher, Ron Wencil, Mark Eisenberg and
Sal Abramo, Mike and Sandy Connors, Dave and Janice Love, Gary Spinazze,
Alex Nodel, Dave and Bobbe Lytle
Guests: Rosemary Schroeder, Board Secretary of the South County Food Pantry
Opening Remarks:  
 Ken Maher called the meeting to order.
Special Presentation:  
 Rosemary presented information on the South County Food Pantry. The
pantry supports 355 families per month. Approximately 5% of those
supported are homeless.
Administrative Matters:  
 Mike Connors asked for approval of the September meeting minutes. Mark
Eisenberg approved and Dave Love seconded the motion for approval 
 We currently have 16 memberships and 30 members with 27 cars. Please
let Bill Mendes know of any changes to your membership
 The website is up and running. The financial and membership sections are
password protected. The club is also on Facebook and Instagram.
 Any event host should send pictures of the event to be posted to the
website

 2022 elections will be for the Vice President and Treasurer positions. This
will allow for the staggering of board position election years
Financial: 
 Donations via check should be made out to the Louis and Gloria Flanzer
Trust for a donation to the South County Food Pantry. The trust will in turn
double the donation to the food pantry. We will attempt to give a donation
each month
 Cash donations can be given to Ken at the monthly meetings for donations
to the trust and the South County Food Pantry
 As of this meeting we have donated $770.00 to the South County Food
Pantry
 Ken received letters from the food pantry thanking the club for donations
 Person hygiene items can be given to Judy Umbreit to donate to the
Backpack Angels.
Quartermaster: 
 Callaway shirts are currently on backorder
 Sandy checked with Tropical Punch regarding embroidery. They are willing
to do embroidery
 Sandy will check with Tropical Punch to see if they can get ball caps and the
Walter Hagan style hat
Social Events:
 The photo shoot will take place on October 27 th at the Venice boat ramp
 The October event is October 29 th at Big Cat Habitat will be chaired by Mark
and Sal
 The October monthly dinner will be October 18 th at Connors Steak and
Seafood hosted by Mike and Sandy. There is no relation to the Connors and
the restaurant
 The November monthly dinner will be November 15 th at Dolce Italia in
Sarasota. Hosted by Gary and Sara Spinazze
 The November event is November 20th at Myakka River Tours will be
chaired by Rick and June

 Drivers are still needed for the Carlisle Auction in Lakeland on November
12 th and 13 th . The club will receive a donation of $750.00 from the auction if
we can have 15 drivers
 A poll of membership was taken to see if there is interest in being part of
the Venice Holiday Parade on November 27th
 The December event is December 3 rd at Rev’s Institute chaired by Ken and
Kathy
 The golf outing will be on January 14, 2022
 Dave Love provided a list of local car shows
 10/9 St. Armand’s 35 th Annual Jaguar Concours
 10/16 Anna Maria Island
 10/16 Fort Myers. Premium show
 10/23 Bell Tower Corvette and open show
 10/30 Gulf Coast Corvette and open show
 11/6 – Pinellas open show
 1/23 – Tampa Festival of Speed at the Vinoy Hotel. Will be more
than 250 cars in the show. Have to apply for admission. Cost is
$50.00. To watch the show is $20.00
 Monthly club dinners will be the 3 rd Monday of the month.

Now You Know: 
 Alex Nodel provided information that McLaren originally tested their F1
gearbox on a Chevrolet V8

Know a member: 

Dave and Bobbe Lytle. Dave grew up in New Jersey. Bobbe grew up in
Massachusetts. Dave met Bobbe in Massachusetts. Dave and Bobbe both
worked at Raytheon. They currently live in the Plantation. Dave’s first sports car
was a Toyota MR2. He also had a Toyota Celica. Currently owns a 2014 Z3. Their
son is a K9 police officer in Massachusetts. They both like to golf.
